The reliefs illustrate Buddhist teachings and scenes from daily life in ancient Java. Borobudur is designed as a symbolic representation of the Buddhist path toward enlightenment, where visitors gradually ascend from the lower levels to the upper terraces. Your temple visit is scheduled at 09:30. You will be assigned to a small group and accompanied by an official Borobudur guide. During the tour, the guide will explain the history of Borobudur, the meaning of the relief carvings, Buddhist philosophy, and the symbolic layout of the monument. You must remain with your group at all times, and independent exploration of the temple is not permitted.

You will board your private klotok (houseboat) and meet the captain, cook, and guide. You will start cruising along the Sekonyer River, while lunch is served on the deck of the boat. As you eat, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the rainforest. After cruising for about two hours, you will stop at Tanjung Harapan, an orangutan rehabilitation center. A 20-minute walk through the forest leads to the feeding platform. Although the orangutans live in the wild, they often stay close to the feeding platforms. At 15:00, the rangers call the orangutans with special calls to let them know that food is available. Suddenly, they appear from different parts of the jungle, swinging through the trees toward the platform to eat. After the feeding session, you will walk back to the boat. You will then continue cruising further up the river. Keep an eye out for proboscis monkeys swinging through the trees and other wildlife along the riverbanks. Would you like to experience Tanjung Puting National Park after dark? Ask your guide to arrange an evening walk just after sunset. With a bit of luck, you may spot wildlife such as glowing insects, tarantulas, slow lorises, or even civet cats. A delicious Asian dinner will be served on board. At night, you will sleep on mattresses on the deck of the boat, with mosquito nets provided for your comfort, and fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle around you. Wake up to the sounds of the jungle. Enjoy a delicious breakfast while gently cruising up the river toward Pondok Tanggui. The orangutan feeding time starts at 09:00. This rehabilitation center is for newly released orangutans. Take a short walk to observe the orangutans at the feeding platform. The boat then continues into a narrow water canal leading to Camp Leakey, a journey of approximately 90 minutes. Lunch will be served on board along the way. Upon arrival, walk along wooden boardwalks through the forest to reach the wild orangutan feeding area. At 14:00, the rangers will call the orangutans again in their special way, and you will see the animals moving through the treetops. On the last day of the orangutan boat tour, you will wake up to your final views of the jungle. After breakfast, enjoy a last gentle cruise as you make your way back toward Kumai harbour, where you will arrive around 10:00.
