Since 2013, Joyce has been living in Karimunjawa (Java) and, together with her Indonesian husband Sudar, has built Hotel & RestaurantThe Happinezz Hills. Due to the high interest from hotel guests, friends, and family who wanted help organizing not only their trip to Karimunjawa but also their entire journey through Indonesia, we began creating fully personalized itineraries throughout the country. With our own travel experience, cooperation with trusted local partners, and attention to detail, we arrange accommodations, transportation, and tours, ensuring a professional, well-organized, and worry-free journey.


We strive to work as much as possible with eco-friendly initiatives and are committed to responsible tourism. We also donate a part of our income to Kejora Karimunjawa, a foundation of which we are one of the founders, dedicated to educational projects for both children and adults in Karimunjawa.

You must remain with your group at all times, and independent exploration of the temple is not permitted. After the tour the driver will bring you back to the hotel.

At 03:00, a jeep will take you to the sunrise viewpoint. If the weather is good, you will be treated to a spectacular sunrise over the majestic volcanic landscape. Afterwards, the jeep will take you to the foot of the volcano. From there you can walk to the crater of the volcano. Along the way, you’ll stroll through the iconic terraced rice fields, watch local farmers at work using traditional techniques, and follow the small irrigation streams. Cross charming bridges and take in breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and countryside, an authentic glimpse of rural Bali at its most beautiful. After the rice field walk, you can stop at a local silversmith to see how traditional Balinese jewelry is crafted. If you like, you can even try making your own piece, guided by the skilled artisans, and take home a unique souvenir of your experience. Next, the scooter tour will make a stop at a traditional weaving center. Here, you can see how intricate patterns are created and learn how time-consuming and labor-intensive the weaving process is. After that, you will visit a local home arak (Balinese rice spirit) factory. Arak is a traditional Balinese alcoholic drink made from distilled rice or palm sap. During the visit, you can see how it’s made and even have a small taste of this unique local spirit. The tour will finish at Gembleng Waterfall. The path to the top of the waterfall is only a few minutes’ walk, where you will be rewarded with amazing views. On the way back, you can take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy the special setting, while the waterfall cascades below. After the waterfall, the scooter drivers will take you back to your hotel.

The island is also famous for snorkelling and diving, especially for spotting turtles, colourful reefs, and diverse marine life.

Senaru is a small mountain village located on the northern slopes of Mount Rinjani. Thanks to its higher elevation, Senaru has a cooler climate and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, forests, and valleys. The village is closely connected to the traditional Sasak culture. Many local residents still follow long-standing customs, and traditional houses can be seen throughout the village. Senaru is also an important place for spiritual and cultural practices related to Mount Rinjani, which is considered a sacred mountain by the local community. The village is close to several waterfalls, including Sendang Gila and Tiu Kelep.

At 09:00, a guide will pick you up at the hotel, and you will walk approximately 200 meters to the entrance gate of the waterfalls to begin a hike to two of Lombok’s most famous waterfalls: Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep. From the starting point, you will walk for about 30 minutes along an easy and accessible path to reach the first waterfall, Sendang Gile. The cool forest air and peaceful atmosphere make the walk very pleasant. Sendang Gile Waterfall is known for its two-tiered flow, with twin streams at the top that drop again into a taller waterfall below. From there, you will continue for another 30 minutes to Tiu Kelep Waterfall, where the water flows like a curtain around the main cascade. When sunlight hits the mist, a rainbow often appears. At the waterfalls, you can take beautiful photos, wade in the water, or enjoy a refreshing swim. When you are finished, you will walk back to the hotel together with the guide.

From the top, you can watch the sunrise over Mount Rinjani and see Sembalun Village below. You will also see colorful rice fields that look like a patchwork and enjoy wide views of the valley. After enjoying the sunrise, you will hike back down, which takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes. This trek requires a good level of physical fitness, and we strongly recommend wearing sturdy, comfortable hiking shoes. After arriving back at the parking area, the driver will take you back to the hotel, where you can enjoy a well-deserved breakfast.
